UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods

The United Nations Convention for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) is a treaty that provides a uniform legal framework for the sale of goods between businesses in different countries. Trading of goods between countries is, by default, subject to the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) unless the contract explicitly excludes the application of the CISG. Understanding obligations in relation to the timing of cash transactions across borders is often crucial. This information paper lists the countries that are signatories to the Convention. You can check for updates via the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).
